In all aspects 2019 is a closing year, as the new dawn will arrive in 2020 with a bang and a whimper. The 20th century began in 1914 and somehow ends in 2019. Although the first world war was the catalyst, the change manifested on a deeper level. The culture, art, thought politics and technology of the 1920s were completely different to those of the first decade of that century. Modernism had arrived and the psychology of the big city spread throughout the world. In a certain way thats how people in the 2030s will look at us. They could be 40 years ahead though usually a crises precedes the acceleration. For astrology the link between 1914 and 2020 is the Saturn Pluto conjunction (political power and transformation as a common theme). In 1914 there were three of them in Cancer heralding the big nationalist struggle (and the reason why we have peace in Europe). The next one in 1947 Leo witnessed the US shaping the post-war world order, which is in its ending year now.
In 2020 we have a triple Saturn Pluto Jupiter conjunction, the first one since 1146 (Crusades) and 411 (Fall of Rome), so to put it modest, change is on the menu and this will be tangible over the spring/summer of 2019. All the Brexits, Trumps and Putins alike will creep closer to where we don’t want them to be. The world has become smaller and the stage is about to crumble. Don’t panic though, the later 2020s promise new heights and life but first Babylon needs to fall down somehow.
Another reason to do what you need and want to do in 2019 is that the years after we might be busy with other things like adapting, surviving or moving. This year has excellent aspects for inner works, purpose makers and dream wagers. Dream big and have those running shoes ready. The 2019 aspects feature Neptune in Pisces in tandem with Jupiter and Saturn, so the connections can flow anyway you want and with Jupiter in Sag there is a big time future quality about the dreamscape. The Saturn element points forwards to 2025 when enter a new era, which will be nothing like the one we live in now. The socio-political-digital organisation of global society will become more like an OS , something China already put in place. Its still in the surveillance phase but once we can log in with our senses (or it logs into us), the mobile phone ends up like the CD and we all wear a wristband or so. Technically this is already possible, the consequence of the fact that our brain runs on electric and nerve responses is that connecting to a network will create a new sense (rather than replacing the 19th century typing interface we use know).
In other words the concepts of time, space, the social and work will change. The thing is we cannot imagine how, just like you can’t imagine a piece of music, a colour or a drug trip as they need to be experienced first hand. Thats the connection to the zero Aries point, these are new beginnings. In a cosmic way 2019 connects to the later 2020s digital renaissance. Don’t let the prophets of doom fool you, the later 2020s have the best aspects since the Renaissance, yes since 500 years that is. Climate change is not the end of the world, it can actually function as a unifying force, the only viable alternative to an alien invasion, a realisation of earth people as a living organism. Uranus in Taurus will accelerate the extreme heat, cold and drought but thats exactly what Earth people need, a palpable thread in order realise the time is now. Out of the hat solutions will come up, perhaps Greenland and the Nordic territories as new homelands, but only after Saturn Pluto has torn down the powers that be, which could become quite nasty, like the global economy euro-dollar system collapsing, or a US-China war.
The wars that shaped the 20th century also contain the peace we have now. In that sense the EU is a work of art, as well as of the future. My guess is that the post-nationalist ethic of EU and Chinese Aquarian technology will make up the design of the 2020s. China has already put an Aquarian system in place with its fading Venus Jupiter conjunction on 1 Aquarius. EU will adapt and develop the content, resource control over surveillance, although there is something totalitarian about this enlightened eco-fascist implementation of post human technology. Perhaps a degraded US will weigh in its innovative side, as its the algorithms that decide our future. Once the OS is in place, it will become global, not democratic but merely allocating the resources available and creating the space for a different human interaction than the one we have know. So enjoy this dream year, it may last a decade.
Jupiter spend most of the last year in its 12th Scorpio house, crashing in with the bang of Me too # in the end of 2017 and opening up some dark rooms of power play and relationship. The Mars and Venus retrogrades continued the focus on masculine and the feminine issues but in a different and more productive way. The amount of retrogrades slowed down the pace of 2018, yet it was a productive series of stations in the realm of love, money, art and work. Mars in Aquarius/Cap had an awakening quality that will come in use the coming years as Pluto and Saturn break down some old Cap walls. Everyone needs to get ready for the Aquarian take over of the 2020s in one way or another. In the middle of the Venus Mars retro phase came the last, rather heavy duty, eclipse of the Leo Aquarius axis, geared up by the Uranus Station. When the nodal axis is moving signs things tend to get heated up. The summer said goodbye to Solar Leo energy and we are now solid in the Lunar Cancer season for the coming years. The sudden eclipse changes support building your home base in a foundational and structural sense. Next week’s eclipse will continue this theme, making clear how support systems can function in the long term and which choices need to be faded out so the new life can prosper.
Uranus in Taurus was another new energy that emerged in 2018, it popped up in the summer and left us the most intense heatwave ever. There is something mundane and collective about the affects of the outside planets. Uranus is now finishing off its last degrees in Aries and its clear that the Uranus Pluto squares of the early 2010s left the world with a return of the authoritarian leader or ideal. Once its moves for good into Taurus the main issues will be land, earth, money and climate. Uranus is the awakener and in that sense there is something positive about climate change. It is slowly awakening the masses that we live on one Earth and something needs to be done. This will be one of the main themes of the 2020s
Pisces season means that we can fully dive into Neptune’s realm, as the gas planet has been at his home base Pisces since 2011. When the Sun is in Pisces we can access the Neptune energy on a personal level. Thats why this can be such a fruitful month for the Neptunian forces; dreams, music, drugs, loss, empathy and awakenings amongst many others. Its the time to tune in to the more sensitive frequencies which might not be received at other times. Since we have entered the digital age, these frequencies have altered their intensities. The last time Neptune entered Pisces was in 1848, a revolutionary year in which the Communist Manifesto was published. The small paper on the spectre haunting Europe would become one of the most influential pamphlets ever. The forces that communism set off are still strong today, with China’s rising power riding on an antique, yet highly efficient and fully upgraded hi-tech post-communist turbo diesel. Looking at the chart of the communist manifesto, it has Sun at 2 Pisces conjunct Neptune at 0 Pisces, both square Mars (in Taurus). That Mars is connected to an Earth trine which is linked to the Nodes. The working class consciousness had arisen and would simmer the rest of the 19th century.
The progressions set off the manifesto’s timing. In 1905, the first Russian Revolution, Neptune moves into 2 Pisces conjunct the degree of the Sun, where it would stay during most of the 20th century. The pivotal dates of 1917 (Russia) and 1948 (China) can be found in the tertiary progressions, where these dates correspond to an exact Uranus Pluto conjunction, which, in the 1948 case, is re-triggered by a T-square. The manifesto became a slow earth burner with devastating collateral damage whilst at the same time liberating millions of people out of poverty and exploitation. Neptune can be more powerful than Pluto yet it operates in the spiritual gas realm, of which ideologies are part as well.
Which spiritual ideology has been taking the world by storm since 2011? I don’t think its the Yoga pose or the breathing session, its more likely to be in your phone. When McLuhan coined his first insight on the Information Age in the early 1960s, his high expectations were partly based on the conception that digital information basically was a spiritual medium. Of course that term took another run in New Age fall out, yet the fact that this extension of your body is connecting to all the other bodies is what counts here. Whether you do Instagram, porn or astrology is more of a moral question. The fact that digital consciousness is a shared asset is what accounts for the change. As we just entered this phase, its difficult to assess the long term effects. In the 1850s it was not so obvious that goelags, health insurance, equal rights for women, forty hour work weeks and Mao were waiting in the trenches.
So my hypothesis for now is that iPhone is performing the function of the Piscean manifesto. It might change form over the next few decades but the ideology of connectedness will be pervasive. Where the Manifesto was pure Piscean power, the iPhone is quite Aquarian in its nature. It has a very strong Neptune in the 12th and the cusp between Pisces and Aquarius takes center stage. In the larger picture of mankind this where we are moving, from Pisces back into Aquarius, from the religious to the digital age. Maybe we are already there, maybe not yet. Opinions differ but it is clear for most that we are in the transformation period itself and from this iPhone chart its obvious that the digital phone plays her part in the change over. A forceful Mars Pluto on the galactic center will stay on the scene for the time being.
The power of Neptune in our epoch (2011-2025) is very strong. Neptune has not been so powerful for hundreds of years. Last time around was just before the Neptune Pluto conjunction of the 1890s, the new dawn of our epoch (as well the beginning of modern astrology). This Neptune in Pisces is the first one that gives genuine direct access to the information age cycle, which will last for another 360 years or so. The other Neptune Cycle which is triggered is Neptune-Uranus of 1993, the onset of the digital. When Uranus transited Aquarius from 1996-2003 the internet was implemented. This Neptune cycle will bloom in connectedness, the spiritual immanent counterpart of the digital era. The phone is just the onset, pretty soon the connection will go through the body itself, for good or bad. The power of Neptune is emphasized by the fact that we are in the waxing, growing phase of the Neptune cycles. The waning, closing phase, after full moon basically, is more difficult. The Communist Manifesto came out in the last waning phase of Neptune-Pluto, which increases the chance on violent and difficult consequences. The bloom of the Manifesto was only released after the Neptune-Pluto conjunction of the 1890s and was not all flowers and roses.
If Neptune is that powerful why aren’t we in full throttle mode yet? This has to do with the cycles of Jupiter and Saturn, which are in their last phase and preparing for the Pluto conjunctions in 2020 in Capricorn. Both individual and cosmic energy can be really in tune whilst it can feel like society/ the socius isn’t there yet. In that sense the Neptune experience connects forwards to the laters 2020s, after we have dealt with the systemic Capricorn crises and are really moving into a full blown 21st century digitally connected earth-sphere.
One of the qualities of Neptune is to dwell in the dream like worlds beyond mere space-time and of course, get lost there as well. Part of the addiction to our interconnected spheres, like facebook, twitter, apping and all, is the Neptunian precipitation that anticipates the time when connectivity lives up to its potential. Now we are in still the phase of the child that stumbles and makes its first steps in the new digital wide world out there. Walking, like talking, apping or astrology is a technology. What tunes the latter two to our 21st century is the Neptunian trait of invincibility, as in the ethereal exchange. The portable digital machine is what connects these technologies to the body itself. Although your author is not a believer as yet, and sticks with Nokia for now, it will not be long before these different technologies connect and manifest Aquarian realities.
An interesting question is how they can connect to the Manifesto. Emperor Xi already put this process in motion and the picture emerging echoes Orwellian control. Still, our local machines will also count your plastic and water use or grant access to the airport or train station. In the composite of I-phone and the Manifesto we see some new lines merging. Aquarian dominated with a Pluto Neptune conjunction puts the time frame fast forward. The air trine appears friendly but is under 12th house kite control by a Piscean Uranus. Its not so far off Xi-ism as it might seem. Socialism as a means of control rather than redistribution. Freedom is supported as long as you manage your relationships well. Likes and dislikes are bridging the data gap as the armour of the digital era.
The natal is outside, like the salmon swimming towards their unknown place of procreation. The natal is in the middle, someone just looks at the ticking of the clockwork. Orange and green. Life is now cut off the mothers stream but not from the body. Life was always there, for at least another 8 months of which we do not have a reference. So why all the fuzz about the beginning as in reality there is only a middle, the beginning is opaque, the end is unknown. Judgement wants the beginning and the end. In the end is my beginning, the middle is all there is. From a kosmik perspective there is only a middle, empty and infinite, we swim in the middle. We can never leave the middle because history never repeats itself. The cosmos never repeats itself, its difference that repeats not the celestial movements. The natal is a snapshot to an article,a reference point, it works because of the desire for a self, a God. What comes into play here is the relation between desire and the self. Desire is not a creation of the person but a relation between the person and the outside (another person, a car, a life). Desire is not constitutional to the person, she is outside like the natal. In other words the Natal is not the self, it is a relation of the self to a multiplicity that preceded the self.
